Postcard from Barbados December 2008 - January 2009

I had a smooth and easy flight from Gatwick and arrived in Bridgetown early, at 3.30 on the afternoon of Monday 22 December and was ensconced in my room at the Bougainvillea Beach Resort on the South coast by 4.45. Had a nice room on the third floor with a view of the sea and the pool. Nipped to the little shop next door to get some milk and juice and few bits and pieces and then relaxed in my room for the evening.

My first morning I set off on an expensive taxi ride to the local supermarket where I stocked up so that I can cook myself for the next three weeks, and of course bought some of the local rum! Then I went to the pool for the rest of the day, and a quiet evening in my room.

After that my days were by the pool and my evenings relaxing in my room. I managed 40 lengths of the good-sized pool each day but otherwise I did absolutely nothing else at all! Except for one rather rainy day the weather remained very good for three weeks, just had the odd scattered shower, which went as fast as it came!

Had an excellent flight home on 15 January – a thoroughly relaxing three week holiday!
