Postcard from Tenerife November 2008

I met up with my friend Sue at Gatwick Airport on Wednesday 12 November, and after checking in we proceeded to Duty Free! We took off on our charter flight for Tenerife just 15 minutes late at 10.30, and arrived three and a half hours later. We took a taxi to our hotel and were ensconced in our room by 3pm.

The hotel was absolutely perfect – we had a lovely ocean view room with plenty of space in the room and the bathroom, and a wonderful balcony. After a quick unpack we went down to the pool for an hour or so to pick up a few rays of sunshine. That evening we had a very good dinner and an early night.

The next three days were spent lazing around by the pool with our books and going for the odd swim or three! In the evening there was always a very good buffet dinner and a nice bottle of wine.

Early on Sunday morning, Sue and I took an excursion up to Mount Teide, the Volcanic mountain in the centre of Tenerife. We had an interesting morning, taking a cable car to the very top, and then stopped en route back at an amazing view point. It was a beautiful day and so as soon as we got back to the hotel headed straight for the pool!

Our short stay finished the next day; we spent the morning by the pool and then headed for the airport at lunchtime. Our flight was on time, and we landed back at Gatwick early evening after a lovely few days of relaxation in the sunshine.
